November is prostate cancer awareness month. I will therefore grow my beard to create awareness and to raise funds for the Maxime-Letendre Foundation, an organisation that helps cancer patients who are undergoing treatment at Cité de la Santé de Laval.
I know that you are highly solicited with the breast cancer awareness month, 24h of Tremblant for Fondation Centre de cancérologie Charles-Bruneau, the Daffodil Month, etc.
This cause touches me deeply. Currently, this disease affects one in two people. Marielle passed away at the age of 55, having lost her battle with cancer; Roger Lavigne, a dear friend and one of my managers, at 52; Francine Goupil, another friend of mine and one of my managers, at 60; Susan Perles, the wife of my best man, at 60… And this does not include those who are fithing the disease or who are in remission.
My goal for this first year is modest: $1000. I am asking for $5, $10 or $20 donations (those who donate $20 or more will receive an official receipt). You can donate directly through the Maxime-Letendre Foundation website at https://www.maximeletendre.org/.
The foundation’s administration fees are less than 3%, so more than 97% of all funds raised are used to accomplish their mission. Michel Letendre, the father of Maxime, who died on the eve of his 28th birthday, does a remarkable job in keeping costs below the 3% threshold.
For those who can not contribute, I invite you to drop by Carrefour Laval during the Holidays to get your Christmas gifts wrapped at the foundation’s booth (facing La Baie). All funds will go to the foundation. I will be volunteering December 7th and December 14th. See you there!
On December 2, I will shave my beard (I’ll have the pictures to prove it) and unveil the amount accumulated thanks to your generosity.
Thank you in advance.
